Clay

Heavy, cool, retentive. The ground where our red varieties gain substance and depth.

Clay is the heaviest of our soils. It holds water tightly, stays cool, and forces the vine into a slower, steadier rhythm.

The red varieties benefit most. Here they gain tannin, colour and a dark, earthy core — the substance a wine needs if it is to spend a year in wood.
